I Stand All Amazed

Spencer and I are now affiliates with Amazon, because we love all of their great deals and aren't able to make it to make it to the closest Borders very often, seeing as how it's a 20 minute drive. Anyway, please use our banners if you are a customer of theirs, or if it is something you would be interested in. Anyway, if you haven't read this book yet, you should! You won't be able to put this book down. It is about a woman who was pronounced dead for many hours, came back to life, and what she saw while on the other side dramatically changed her life. She was deserted thereafter by her family and friends, until 2 strangers knocked on her door. You won't be dissapointed.

Here is a used copy I found for quit a bit cheaper.

I got an...

on my first exam in my Computers class tonight!
It was NOT easy
The teacher is a BIG fan of the "trick" question
Otherwise I would have gotten a 100%.
However, gathering with students at the end of class,
I realized I got the highest score anyway.
I just checked online and the class average was a C.
I hate that I'm happy as long as I'm beating everyone else.
Oh well.
go me.

Week in review

So, like I said previously, LOVED my paralegal course. Of course there was ALOT of anxiety this past week, cause this was the first time in 7 years going to school....alas, I made it through unscathed.

But let's talk about my computers class for a sec. It's the intro class folks. I figured I would just be learning how to turn on a computer throughout the semester. Turns out, I should be able to do a lot more than that. Don't get wrong...I am thrilled about learning how to do and create different programs and presentations using different 'application software' (see...I'm like a sponge). But man, is this class intense. In one class, and it being the first class, I had to take 2 quizzes, cover 2 Units, and our 2nd class (next Thursday) is our first Exam, worth more points than all other exams. No one try to contact me this week. I'll be studying. I HATE memorizing vocab. I know how to do all of it, just don't ask me to NAME exactly what I'm doing!

Oh and sidebar note: I am 4-7 for Settlers of Catan.

First Day of School

in 8 years!

Tonight I had my Introduction to Paralegal Study. It was fantastic. I was so born to do this. I'll be able to be a lawyer without all the liability! Of course, I may not get paid as well, but who cares as long as I love what I'm doing! Spencer makes all the good money anyway!

Up until I was the age of six or seven if anyone asked what I was going to be when I was older I would say Doctor or Lawyer. I honestly thought those were the only 2 professions. Don't ask me why...no one in my family is either. Well, after I realized the consequences of minor mistakes made in either profession, I started looking elsewhere for employment. That is the beauty of being a paralegal...as long as I give no legal advice...ZERO accountability. And once I realized the drawing of blood was related to any 'doctor/nurse' type of career...that one was checked off.

After whirlwind adventures of being whisked away in marriage and moving every 1 1/2 to 2 years...we are finally in a place where I can finish school!!

Dasher and Catan

We had such a great game night last night with the Merrills.

First on the table was Balderdash. It's been years since I have played this game, and I just remember uncontrollable laughter, and last night was no different. The highlight definitions of the evening:

Gnomon: Jamaican porch statue

Weedmonkey: cousin to the sea horse.

Hornito: spanish word of hornet

Hackmatack: Canine cardiac arrest

But the winning definition goes to:
Subito: The cousin to labito- meaning sex drive as determined by sub sandwiches.

And then I have to give the winner of Settlers of Catan honorable mention, and NO it was not me. This person has previously strongly disliked this game, and didn't even want to play. And all throughout the game last night he was in last place. And then he pulled a fast one on all of us and we all got blindsided by his cleverness.

Way to go SPENCER!

Those of you not familiar with Spencer...when it comes to boardgames...he NEVER wins.

Praise be to Carmax!

Okay. I attempted the whole stick shift thing. All of you drivers out there should thank me for my decision to not do it. Way to dangerous. The whole, timing the clutch and gas at the exact same time thing or you get nailed, didn't do too well with me.

So, since I start school on Monday and my name is NOT Ms. Daisy, we needed a new car.

Last night was quite the adventure. At first I wanted a Mini Cooper, for a few reasons. But the main one..Charlize Theron in The Italian Job. just kidding (sort of). I've always loved them and they are so fun to drive. So we went to a tiny dealer uptown and found a great deal. However, while we were test driving we realized sadly that our luggage would not fit in it for our trip to the airport next month.

On to Carmax. I will never ever buy another car from anywhere other than Carmax for the rest of my entire life. The cars they sell to people they get from auctions for low prices and hardly raise the price when they sell it. The way they make their money is buying cars from people and then flipping it. And the salesmen don't get a percentage of a sale, so there really is a feel for them just wanting to get you a great price for what you are looking for.

So we were like 2 kids in a candy store last night. We were test driving almost everything, cause everything was so affordable. And I might add before I tell you what we got...luxury cars are plummeting in price right now because of economic factors and since gas prices are low again, everyone is buying SUV's....there were hardly any on the lot. So after we test drove a nice Saab, Spencer turned around and saw this...a BEAUTIFUL, green, 2006 with only 41k miles, MUCH CHEAPER than his HONDA CIVIC SI...
