I so happy

Nothing says, "Happy Birthday we love you" like a hand crocheted scarf, a Dremmel 300 series with ALL the bits, safety glasses, tons of extra chapsticks, and Tuscan soaps. Thanks mom and dad!

I should think about baking

So, Spencer left for Home Teaching visits while I was taking a nap. When he comes home I discover that he took this for a snack to his families.

Anyone throwing a Pampered Chef party anytime soon?

ACCOUNTABILITY!

I started training at the beach today..

JUST KIDDING..like you needed me to tell you that that isn't me...
However, enough is enough. I have wanted to run at least a half marathon for over a year now, and there is always something that keeps me from consistently training. Well, hopefully if I make a post about my goal I will feel more accountable and I'll stay on track. Today I got my bootie back to Francis Beatty Park to run that incredible trail, and I didn't do as bad as I thought I would, since it has been about 6 months since I have used my legs to go a distance further than my mailbox. So, here it goes....if anyone has any suggestions for songs to put on my IPOD to keep up my running motivation...PLEASE LET ME KNOW!

movies, movies, movies. That is all my life has consisted of lately. That whole free movie screening thing has taken to be an almost everyday activity in my life. I feel my brain starting to fry. So, for my sake and the sake of my posterity, I am proving that I DO have other hobbies..

The 2 frames in the middle aren't entirely finished yet, as I like to keep my designing options open until I am completely satisfied... But I love that turtle and the frame with Daniel and Mel in it. Just you wait...once my dremmel tool gets here for my birthday, they'll have to start paying me to go to those movie screenings....okay, maybe not...but I'll have more options. Maybe when I start wood working class they'll have to. ......... again, probably not.

I will just mention, that Henry Poole is Here was very touching....and American Teen was just plain awesome....go TEAM HANNAH!

WARNING....SPOILER!

DO NOT READ IF YOU HAVEN'T FINISHED "BREAKING DAWN".

So lets see if I can organize my thoughts.

I loved this book. Not for the story. Even though the story was good. But it gave me a great insight into myself and well, all humans for that matter.
What is it with humans and the super hero worship that we've all got going on? And I'm not talking about just today. Every culture for thousands of years have had their own 'super heroes' or "Gods" as they referred to them as, which are still studied and read about today. And nowadays, numerous comic books, and invincible video game characters, and how many movies have come out this year alone about humans with all these super powers. And there is even a TV show "Heroes". Then the books about werewolves and vampires and magical students.... the Inheritance books about dragon riders, Lord of the Rings , Chronicles of Narnia, the Harry Potter books (this list could go on forever) and then the Twilight series and we have arrived at "Breaking Dawn". I've got to say, I didn't get depressed about not having super powers until I read this book. Stephanie Meyer's description of Bella as she is experiencing her first few moments as a vampire, is astonishing....and in my case, quite possibly suicide inducing. :)
After I read that chapter of her transformation I felt so......human. And by that I mean weak. So, I thought...why? Why, am I feeling this sense of hopelessness?? So, I pondered for a second on why we have numerous, countless, endless stories and this enduring attraction to possessing these super human capabilities. One or two different stories I can understand. Like for example, The Mummy movies. One or two was fine....they really shouldn't have gone on to a 3rd.
And then this quote popped into my head on explaining the existence of God from James Talmage's book "Articles of Faith". "... subjection to a supreme power is an inborn attribute of mankind." I love that word, Inborn.
It is inside of us....this natural inclination to worship. why? Because we do indeed have a Heavenly Father who created us and sent us here to learn. We are His children. So, our spirits all have an INBORN attribute which guide us to worship. No matter what way we choose to worship. "...even the most revolting of ...practices testify to the existence of a God by demonstrating man's hereditary passion for worship."
It seems to me that there is also a hereditary passion for possessing 'super powers'.

So, where am I going with this? Well, as I was dwelling on my aforementioned hopelessness, due to my realization that I can never be a vampire, I was quietly calmed and soothed. It came to me that it may be INBORN in each of us to know what we are capable of without our bodies of flesh and blood. "The spirit truly is ready, but the flesh is weak." (St Mark 14:38)

And then I got so excited. I am going to have these super powers someday...just not while I am chained in this tabernacle of flesh. I've always heard that our bodies will be perfected after our life here...I always just took that to mean that I would be wearing a size 2.
Oh no... It finally dawned on me that it is much more than that. And we won't even consider it as 'super powers'...we'll just think of it as easily as the Cullen family did....instinct. I also think that is why children have such active imaginations. When I was little I had dream after dream that I could fly...that I could do anything my mind wanted me to. Little ones are still so close to the veil, that their spirits haven't adjusted to this binding mortal body they have been enclosed in. So their minds are racing. And as we get older we just get use to it, and accept our lot.
And then I remembered my favorite quote. We ARE more powerful than beyond measure.

So my bottom line is this. I get to be a vampire without having to drink blood. and Im so excited about it.

Let my birthday celebrations begin!

I have exactly one month from tomorrow until my birthday, but I'll be honest...I like to start things early. I got a package today from my mom (the greatest) and in it was a fabulous set of sock/slippers. There are baby pink, blue, and green....words cannot describe...Oh so comfortable! Thanks mom, and that is just the beginning!!
I had it so easy all growing up with regard to clothes. My mom always has the best taste!! I would come home from a grueling day of school and 5 hour volleyball practices to find a new adorable outfit laid out on my bed. And she still scores. She really is the greatest.

My opinions are facts

At least on movies they are. And I thought I was finally going to get to critique a movie this past Wednesday night. Michelle scored by finding tickets to a free movie screening of Brideshead Revisited. And it was at the fabulous movie theater by South Park mall, and my new favorite eatery...Dean and Deluca (now referred to as heaven). So, I thought it was one of those screenings where I get to choose my favorite trailer out of a few they show you, and give my opinion on the movie. Such was not the case. A guy stood in front of us and said, "Okay folks, share what you think about the movie with your friends." And that was it. So, since I got in for free I would be doing this fellow a disservice by not upholding my end of the bargain. THE MOVIE SUCKED!
It did have potential. However, something just wasn't right. I kept expecting tragedy to strike, and it really never did. I can't tell if it was the writing that was aloof, or the acting that was the real tragedy. Alas, Michelle and I suffered in silence throughout the almost 3 hour movie to only say at the end of it...well, at least it was free.
The evening was not a total loss. I claim 2 triumphs. One...the fabulous rotisserie chicken salad from Dean and Deluca. And two...we FINALLY took a decent picture.
What do you expect when one of us has to hold the camera.
Anyway, the whole free movie screening has greatly intrigued me. So, if you want to watch possibly horrible movies for free, click me.
